As a vibrant suburban city of over 80,000 residents, Pleasanton has managed to retain its small-town charm and character. Its downtown area boasts an impressive array of restaurants, cafes, antique and specialty shops, and boutiques that give Pleasanton that special sense of community. Many residents, locals, and tourists make a habit of visiting downtown Pleasanton, whether to dine, shop at the weekly farmer’s market, enjoy the Friday night "Concert in the Park", or attend the various other street fairs and events.

Because of its central location and easy access to BART, Pleasanton is a bustling city in the fast growing Tri-Valley region. In addition to its quaint downtown area, Pleasanton is home to several large company headquarters including Safeway, Oracle, and Kaiser Permanente.

In addition, Pleasanton is home to the Alameda County Fairgrounds which hosts countless large events, including the Alameda County Fair which takes place every June/July.

Pleasanton contains some of the best public schools in the Bay Area and maintains numerous parks that populate the city, including the Pleasanton Sports Park with over 28 sports fields. It is a hub of activity with ongoing games & tournaments on a regular basis.

Pleasanton is approximately 40 miles east of San Francisco and 30 miles north of Silicon Valley.
